Your auto insurance company most likely offers something called, "roadside assistance insurance". Don't automatically sign up for this insurance until you find out how much it costs. Some car insurance companies will roll this coverage up into another category and bury the cost into comprehensive or collision insurance. Ask questions of your carrier and see if you can get that coverage waived and the money taken out so you pay a lower monthly premium. Of course you could always choose to pay for this, but it's key that you get the facts first. Now sense in paying a bunch of money and not getting all your different coverages itemized so you can do a fair comparison between companies.

There are many little extra coverages that can load you up and cost you more on your monthly premium. Another great example is mechanical breakdown insurance. If you already have roadside insurance through another company or you own a new car, there's a great chance you have no use for this coverage. Most people fall into the trap of paying too much and getting too much insurance coverage, when they really should accept less insurance and put that money back in your pocket. It always pays to read the fine print and get the facts, that way you could get extra money each month and these days who doesn't want that?
